Paul D. Everts, Music Teacher

January 1989, Mr. Everts began his teaching career teaching elementary music at three elementary schools in Santa Cruz. Later that school year, Mr. Everts’s mentor teacher announced his resignation and Mr. Everts succeed Dr. Royce Tevis at Tokay High School. From 1989 to 1994, at Tokay High School, Mr. Everts was able to have the band grow from 55 band members to 105. The greatest accomplishment the Tokay High School Band achieved was being awarded Best Out of State Band at the 1994 Portland Rose Festival Parade. Mr. Everts then moved to Monterey and taught music at an independent school – The York School. In three years, The York School saw its music program grow from 96 students to 136 – out of a student body of 210 students. The instrumental program grew from one band to a 24 piece band and a 21 member string orchestra.

1997 – 2005, Mr. Everts established the band program at Granite Bay High School. In those eight years, the Granite Bay High School Band program went from 39 band members to over 100; won numerous awards including several sweepstakes; went to numerous cities to perform; established an annual fundraising concert for the American Cancer Association and the ALS Foundation. April 2000, Mr. Everts was selected by the Sacramento Magazine as one of the top ten teachers in the Sacramento Area.

2005-08, Mr. Everts taught at Galt High School. While at Galt High School, the program grew – 33 choir members to 60 and the band 33 members to 53. Mr. Everts established the Winterpercussion ensemble that placed in every competition.

Mr. Everts is married to Diana and they have a son PJ (who is a Dublin High School Student) and Katy (who currently goes to Wells Middle School).

Color Guard

Mrs. Everts is working along side with — the Dublin High School Color Guard program. Mrs. Everts brings 15 years of experience and wisdom of the art of Color Guard to the Dublin High School. Every guard program Mrs. Everts has been a part of (Tokay HS; Granite Bay HS; Galt HS) has grown and has had success. Mrs. Everts is a guard adjudicator for the Northern California Band Association and has been asked to clinic several different guards. Mrs. Everts is a University of the Pacific Conservatory of Music Graduate. Mrs. Everts is married to Mr. Everts and they have two children, PJ & Katy.
